Junior Sportsman of the Year Nominee: Johnnel Eugene

In 2016 17 year old Johnnel had a very prolific and successful season. He captained Babonneau in the Under 19 Tournament and amassed the highest aggregate of 237 runs. He was selected vice captain of the St. Lucia Under 19 team very he performed creditably. In the period of July – August he captained the Windward Island Under 17 team, following which he gained selection on the Windwards Under 19 team.

At the West Indies Under 17 Tournament he was awarded the MVP title, having amassed the highest aggregate score of 172 runs in the 3 day format with half centuries against Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados.

In the West Indies Under 19 Tournament he score an aggregate of 140 runs with a high of 51* vs. Jamaica in the limited overs format.

Subsequently he has been selected as a member of the West Indies Under 19 squad as they prepare for the ICC Under 19 World Cup.

Johnel has demonstrated class way and above his age level, and his batting prowess has resulted in him copping top honors in tournaments he has participated in.
