St. Lucian Lael Cherry debuted for Bloomsberg University yesterday Friday 22nd September 2017. The young attacker entered the game 12 minutes into the first half and was deployed as a striker. Although he came out at half-time, he re-entered the match later in the second half, first playing as an attacking midfielder then as a striker once again. Lael led his team in shots (3) with 2 of them being on target. Unfortunately Bloomsberg was unable to snatch the victory against Mercyhurst University. They lost 3-1.
Nevertheless, this is a positive step forward for Cherry who has been quite prone to injuries over the past few years. Lael is an extremely talented footballer. He was part of the historic St. Lucia Under 17 team which fell at the final qualifying round for the FIFA 2015 U17 World Cup. He has also played for the National U20 team, the Castries Central Senior Team and the Valley Soccer Senior Team – such a wealth of experience, yet the young man is only 19 years old.
Cherry has his entire career ahead of him. Hopefully, he can remain healthy and fulfill his tremendous talent. Sporte Avis wishes him good fortunes.
